Hello, everyone. I have been a bit quiet amidst the ongoing online reporting of illness and deaths in pets that is allegedly in relation to specific processed pet food companies. This incident began unfolding in December of 2023. It is now becoming clear that there is a significant issue that is in the progress of being investigated. I feel the need to share this information now because it is becoming obvious that there is major cause for concern. Please stay up to date with us. The FDA is now involved and considering investigation. I’m sure it will take time to get all of the answers, however, if you are feeding the following pet food brands, you may want to consider switching until we know what’s going on.
Pet food companies implicated in pet parent consumer reports:
4Health
Acana
Blue Buffalo
Hill’s
Instinct
Kirkland
Merrick
Orijen
Organix
Pure Balance
Purina
Royal Canin
Stella & Chewy’s
Taste of the Wild
Due to the number of brands involved, it appears that there may be an ingredient supplier issue connected to all of these companies – most of which are owned by Purina and Mars.
Reported symptoms in over 900 cases and counting:
Lethargy
Refusal to eat
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Muscle weakness
Seizures
Rapid weight loss
Rectal and oral bleeding
Death (over 200 dogs and cats so far)
We know, from historical behaviour, that these big pet food companies are not going to admit to anything without a fight. It’s not the first time pets have died from the mismanagement of ingredients in highly processed foods. That’s why it’s so important that we speak up if we know there’s an issue. It could literally save hundreds, if not thousands, of lives. If you don’t believe me, you can review the FDA’s pet food recall list for all the confirmed recalls that have previously been recorded and what the causes were. Be sure to read through all of the pages.
Please also remember that the majority of illnesses and deaths in pets will not be reported and so with the rapidly growing number of cases the ARE being recorded, there will be many more that are missed. Remember to keep this perspective in mind when you are analyzing the information.
You can stay up to date by following reputable resources:
We’ll keep you updated as the news flows in on Facebook and Instagram: @theanimalsynergist.com
Dr. Judy Morgan DVM’s Youtube Channel: One of our favourite holistic veterinarians who’s currently on the frontlines and taking some major flack for reporting these issues on her social media channels. She is currently doing independent pet food testing to try and figure out what is going on with these pet foods.
The Facebook Private Group: Saving Pets One @ A Time (87k followers and counting) – hundreds of reports are flowing in about pets becoming ill and dying from the above brands of food. If you have a sick pet, please join and report.
Susan Thixton at The Truth About Pet Food: Susan is also on the frontlines of holding industrialized pet food companies for the harm that they cause through careless and toxic ingredient formulations. She will, no doubt, be staying on top of this subject.
Lastly, if we don’t report illness and death causes for what we believe they are, we cannot ask for accountability from pet food companies. Keep the momentum going and ensure the safety of animals everywhere!
